ABOUT ME

As a child of a military family, I grew up on the outskirts of New Orleans and spent time in different parts of the country before eventually settling in Nebraska. I earned my Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and worked in the court system in Florida.

I earned Master’s in Counseling at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, I’ve spent the last ten years working in various roles within the mental health field.

I began my counseling career in community mental health before transitioning into a co-responder role, where I worked alongside the Omaha Police Department assisting community members in crisis where I honed my de-escalation skills. Additionally, I’ve helped provide mental health training for first responders and enjoy working with front-line workers in private practice. I am currently offering training to local fire departments for mental health resiliency and support in times of crisis on an as needed basis.

Throughout my various roles, I found that the body is essential in the therapy process and received training in EMDR and Brainspotting. Attachment therapy is a foundational piece of the work that I do and I am in the process of certification with DARe. I have also completed three years of training in Somatic Experiencing and am certified by Somatic Experiencing International as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I incorporate this method in nearly all of my sessions.

When I am not using Somatic Experiencing in sessions I also assist Somatic Experiencing faculty in their trainings to help spread the knowledge to more helpers and further enrich my own learning.

My goal is to provide a space where clients can feel connected and empowered to move into the next phase of their life.

HOW I WORK

I believe that every individual has the capacity and personal strength to bring about change in their lives.

My therapeutic approach centers on deepening self-understanding, recognizing that true healing emerges from within. By cultivating space for curiosity, we allow ourselves the freedom to explore and connect with our inner desires, empowering us to make choices that align with what we truly want for ourselves.

TOGETHER, WE WILL FIND REAL SOLUTIONS THAT WILL BRING ABOUT EFFECTIVE CHANGE.

I’VE NEVER TALKED TO ANYONE. I’M USED TO HANDLING THINGS ON MY OWN. What will a session look like?

My priority is to create a safe and welcoming space, tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Through Somatic Experiencing, I release my own agenda, allowing the person to freely explore their own path and discover what resonates most deeply for them. I incorporate the nervous system into nearly every session. This will involve noticing the sensations in the body as this is how trauma is stored, in our body. We often live in “survival” until we know we can have space to relax and feel calm.

HOW DOES IT WORK? WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO IN SESSIONS?

With Somatic Experiencing we may use movement, work with our breath, feel the tension in our bodies, notice what emotions we have inside. We do not “do” we “be” in therapy. Willingness is the first step.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

We live our whole lives up to the point when we decide we want to make a change. It may take some time to allow ourselves to feel safe enough to work on the material that we have been holding on to. I cannot give a timeline for healing.

I WANT TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THERAPY. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?

The willingness to want change in your life is the biggest step you can take.
