ABOUT ME

I grew up on the outskirts of New Orleans and spent time in different parts of the country before eventually settling in Nebraska. After earning my Master’s in Counseling at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, I’ve spent the last ten years working in various roles within the mental health field.

I began my counseling career in community mental health before transitioning into a co-responder role, where I worked alongside the Omaha Police Department to assist community members in crisis. Additionally, I’ve helped provide mental health training for first responders and enjoy working with frontline workers in private practice.

Throughout my various roles, I found that the body is essential in the therapy process and received training in EMDR and Brainspotting. Attachment therapy is a foundational piece of the work that I do and I am in the process of certification with DARe. I have also completed three years of training in Somatic Experiencing and am certified by Somatic Experiencing International as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I incorporate this method in nearly all of my sessions.

When I am not using Somatic Experiencing in sessions I also assist Somatic Experiencing faculty in their trainings to help spread the knowledge to more helpers and further enrich my own learning.

My goal is to provide a space where clients can feel connected and empowered to move into the next phase of their life.

HOW I WORK

I believe that every individual has the capacity and personal strength to bring about change in their lives.

My therapeutic approach centers on deepening self-understanding, recognizing that true healing emerges from within. By cultivating space for curiosity, we allow ourselves the freedom to explore and connect with our inner desires, empowering us to make choices that align with what we truly want for ourselves.

TOGETHER, WE WILL FIND REAL SOLUTIONS THAT WILL BRING ABOUT EFFECTIVE CHANGE.

I’VE NEVER TALKED TO ANYONE. I’M USED TO HANDLING THINGS ON MY OWN. What will a session look like?

My priority is to create a safe and welcoming space, tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Through Somatic Experiencing, I release my own agenda, allowing the person to freely explore their own path and discover what resonates most deeply for them.

WHY SHOULDN’T I JUST TAKE MEDICATION?

Medication alone cannot solve all issues. What medication does is treat the symptoms. Our work together is designed to explore the root of the issue and regulate the nervous system.

Medication can be effective and is sometimes needed in conjunction with therapy. If additional support is needed, I work closely with homeopaths, body workers, and psychiatrists in the area to help you find the best fit for your needs.

HOW DOES IT WORK? WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO IN SESSIONS?

I specialize in Somatic Experiencing and will utilize this method in my sessions. This is not like a typical “talk” therapy session and may involve movement with the body and expression.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time therapy can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek therapy in the first place.

I WANT TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THERAPY. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?

Coming to therapy is the biggest part of the process. The willingness to want change in your life is the biggest step you can take.
